“Collages & Watercolor”
Art from the Winter Workshop Series

Exhibit from September 7-28, 2014
Hours: Monday – Friday 9 AM – 4 PM

The Winter Workshops at the Gourgaud Gallery sponsored by the Cranbury Arts Council has given local artists the opportunity to remain painting 12 months of the year. CAC has hosted Art in the Park sessions all around the area for the spring/summer months for plein air painting. The focus this year has been, “Giving up Control for Art’s Sake” in watercolor and “Collage Experiment with Texture and Mono Print Techniques”.

The Cranbury Arts Council employs working artists to facilitate these workshops. We celebrate the work done at the workshops with a gallery showing. Work can be submitted from workshop participants that are reviewed and possibly juried, based on the response. We also try to hang a piece from each of our artists and instructors.

The Winter Workshop gallery show will have a reception on Sunday, September 7 from 1-3 PM and we hope many can come to see these artistic efforts at the Gourgaud Gallery where ART happens.
The artwork is for sale with 20% of each sale going to support the Cranbury Arts Council and its programs. Cash or a check made out to the Cranbury Arts Council is accepted as payment.

You can meet the exhibiting Artists at the reception on September 7 from 1-3 PM. Refreshments are served at the Artist Reception.tercolor”

“Line, Lights, Color, Space” – Art by Tatiana Rodionova Reception Sunday, August 3 1-3 PM

“Line, Lights, Color, Space” – Art by Tatiana Rodionova
Reception Sunday, August 3  1-3 PM

Exhibit from August 3-31, 2014
Hours: Monday – Friday 9 AM – 4 PM
First, Third and Last Sunday 1-3 PM

“My name is Tatiana Rodionova. I was born in Russia. My native city is St. Petersburg. It is a place where moods are complemented by shapes of the city. The city is chilly like a sudden blow of the northern wind, it is elegant like a true gentleman, and is overflowing with an inner calmness like a rock. This unique, elegant, and original city will forever have my heart. Architecture became my profession and art - my calling.
In the summer of 1998 I moved to Syracuse, NY and later to East Brunswick, NJ. While living in the United States I devoted my time to further my artistic development. I became a member of the Suburban Artists Guild and started participating in various art exhibits around the NY/NJ metro area. Currently I am able to devote my attention to transferring my artistic vision to various mediums and sharing them with the world. It is the hobby of my life for the last 25 years.”

“I mostly like to paint flowers in acrylic, watercolor or ink. I consider the black graphics my trademark style. The pen and ink technique is what gives the lines an unusually unique and fine form. On one side the black and white combination enables you to see the very essence of the object, on the other side it enables you to imagine any color possible while being the simplest of color combinations.”

The artwork is for sale with 20% of each sale going to support the Cranbury Arts Council and its programs. Cash or a check made out to the Cranbury Arts Council is accepted as payment. See www.cranburyartscouncil.org.

Abstract Art by Tatiana Sougakova

Fabric of Life – Abstract Art by Tatiana L. Sougakova

Exhibit from July 6 - July 27, 2014
Hours: Monday – Friday 9 AM – 4 PM
First, Third and Last Sunday 1-3 PM

According to Tatiana Sougakova :” I do not paint images I paint energy. Colors and patterns are my ways of preserving the energy I sense while painting and of transmitting it through art to the viewers. I often paint while listening to classical music, so the brushstrokes assume the rhythm and flow of the music, they happen fast and very naturally. I almost never know what I am going to paint when I am in front of a blank canvas. The process is a bit magical like a discovery or an exploration.”

Tatiana L. Sougakova – classically trained abstract expressionist explores "fabric of life" - how the smallest and the largest things around us intertwine in the visible and invisible worlds in the endless mechanism of creation and change. The art is greatly inspired by scientific discoveries and imagery. In essence, the artist is giving impression of invisible forces, energies and laws of nature and universe all combined and intertwined on the same canvas.
Some of the paintings in this exhibit are Flippables, they could be viewed any side up. The artist is exploring whether it is possible to create art object that would be very serious and ambitious during the creative process, but playful and joyful at the same time during the viewing (if the viewer does not want to read too deeply into it). This type of art would provide versatility in placement, and would look great in the personal space, remaining a serious work of art at the same time.
Tatiana L. Sougakova, artist currently residing in Plainsboro NJ, was born in Russia, where she lived through young adulthood. After graduating from Restoration Arts College in St. Petersburg, Russia, with a degree in fresco-secco painting Tatiana studied at the University of St. Petersburg, where she received an MA in Slavic languages with a minor in Czech language. After moving to US in the early 90s Tatiana worked as a Language services director for a small Finnish company. She started painting again, when she moved to Plainsboro in 2000. Tatiana has been exhibiting since 2007. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and alternative spaces. The latest selected group exhibits include: InLiquid benefit show (Philadelphia, 2014), Gallery U (Westfield, NJ, 2014), Hamilton Street Gallery (Boone, NJ, 2014), Dragon Project for Tohoku Japan (Paris school of design, Paris, France, 2013). She has been a highlighted artist of Artwalk in Washington township, NJ in the summer of 2013, and had a solo show at Plainsboro library. The owners of her art come from different walks of life, among them are: construction company owner, scientist, clergyman, musicians and professional dancers.
Right now Tatiana is painting a life size ox sculpture for Hopewell stampede, the design has been sponsored by Betty World Johnson.

Paul Norris-April Exhibit

Paul Norris – Passions and Appetites

Exhibit from April 6-27
Hours: Monday-Friday 9 AM – 4 PM
First, Second and Last Sunday 1-3 PM

Paul was born and raised in the Midwest and moved to New Jersey 14 years ago. His show is titled Passions and Appetites because he believes we are all given different appetites. Things we like, subjects we are moved by. By tapping into these and experiencing them and the different flavors, we are shaped into who we are. When we are flavored by these, we then open ourselves to using these to pursue our passions. He paints his appetites, what he finds beautiful and tasteful to his palette, many colors, many flavors, and many tastes.

He uses this talent to encourage others to find what their appetites are. He is also a poet with a way of painting the verbal picture journey. He resides in Trenton, N.J. where he is heavily involved with the non-profit agency Men for H.O.P.E. A ¼ of all profits of sales will go to this organization. The artistnotes: “Our appetites are what God gives us. Our Passions are what we give back to God.”
