NEW EXHIBIT AT THE GOURGAUD GALLERY – “TWO SISTERS”
By Bob Gilbert
This month’s (May 2011) exhibit at the Gourgaud Gallery features the art work of two sisters, Tamara Woronczuk and Stephanie Grabowski, who were
raised in Fair Lawn, New Jersey.
Tamara is no stranger to art and is rather well known locally, as she has been the art teacher at the
Cranbury School for thirty-one years.
She will be retiring from teaching at the end of this school year, and plans to pursue painting vigorously in retirement.
In this new exhibit, Tamara offers us acrylic and multimedia paintings which capture subject matter ranging from rustic buildings and rural countryside scenes to floral paintings which seem to light up the room.
Stephanie, who previously worked as a merchandise buyer in
Manhattan, presents a collection of unique collages that are colorful and crisp.
Stephanie states that she is completely self trained and that her work springs from her imagination.
Her interest in art started some years ago with arts and crafts but progressed to creating these intricate collages.
When you look at her work, you can’t help but wonder exactly how it was done.
In that regard, many people ask Stephanie if they can touch the collages, apparently in an effort to figure it out!
Both sisters feel that their father was an inspirational influence on them. He studied Art at Cooper Union and did some cartooning and other artistic work, and always encouraged them to express their creativity. I guess it worked!
This is a delightful exhibit perfectly timed for the cheerful feeling of spring, and all are urged to attend.
